Important things to consider

In case of a billing statement, following are some important things to consider:

Issue of the Billing Statement:

A billing statement must be issued by the credit card issuer, at the end of each billing period, on the given address. In modern times, you can also receive your billing statement online if you have availed this service from your credit card issuer.
It is also required by law that a billing statement must be issued at least 21 days before the due date of payment. Here, the law protects the customers so that they can get some time to arrange the amount to be paid.

If some errors are discovered in the Billing Statement:

You must always check your billing statement thoroughly and carefully, so that if you find some errors in your billing statement, you can report the credit card issuer within 60 days of receiving the billing statement.
Most of the time the credit card issuer makes the required corrections just by making a phone call. However, if there are some major errors in the billing statement, then make sure to write a formal letter to your credit card issuer. Such a letter will also serve the purpose of an evidence that you actually highlighted the error.

If no Billing Statement is Received:

It is also possible that sometimes, you don’t receive a billing statement. It can be simply due to the reason that there is no activity recorded in your account, in the subsequent billing period. Moreover, it is also possible that your account balance is very low.
Another reason might be that you have not updated your contact details or mailing address with your credit card issuer. If that’s the case, then make sure to update your credit card issuer with these details.

Billing Statement on a closed account:

It is also possible that you keep on receiving the billing statements, even after your account is closed. The most obvious reason for this is that you still owe some amount to the credit card issuer.
